80 Day Obsession - Week 9

Phase 3 has officially started and the first week is in the books! YEAH! You guys, Phase 3 is nuts. The workouts are tough, the moves are way more advanced, and the overall pace is faster. This phase is where the magic happens. At least that's what I'm told... and after doing Week 1, I believe it. Remember last week when I mentioned that Cardio Flow would have 8 reps? Yeah... that was incorrect because Autumn Calabrese changed her mind. It's 4 reps (hallelujah), but you repeat the entire sequence 8 times instead of 2. EIGHT. What was she thinking?? Brutal. Bbbrutal. This took the mental and physical challenge up to a whole new level. Let me back up a bit and give you some back story that you should probably know...

When Autumn kept saying that we would be doing 8 reps in Phase 3, I was intimidated to the max. Cardio Flow has been a tough and challenging workout for me every since Phase 1. Tough to the point of dreading it every day. While looking at the calendar, I noticed that Phase 3 had Cardio Flow listed as being 4 reps. I'll admit, I did a "Happy Dance" when I saw this because 4 reps is a breeze at this point. After completing Day 51, I was curious. Curious about why the calendar said 4 reps, but Autumn kept saying 8 reps. I decided to play the first few seconds of Day 52 and boy was I in for a real surprise. It was changed from 8 reps, repeated twice to 4 reps, repeated 8 times. Yeah, you read that right. I immediately started coming up with any excuse possible. I slept in on Day 52 to avoid doing the workout. I brought my workout clothes to work with me and ran 5 miles over my lunch break so I could count that as my Cardio Flow day. Then I took a minute and thought - "I made it all the way do Day 5-freaking-2. Why would I give up now?" 51 days of workouts (more than that because Sundays are not counted). This is by far the longest that I have ever stuck to a program in my 27 years of life. I was PROUD of my accomplishment and wasn't about to throw in the towel because there was suddenly a big obstacle in front of me. Nope. I went home, changed into workout clothes, cranked up my radio, and crushed Cardio Flow. Ok, I didn't really "crush" it per say... but I did complete it.

As you can see from the list below, Phase 3 wasn't just about all new workout moves. Phase 3 changed up the order of workouts themselves, plus changed all of the moves. Such a fun challenge! Phase 3 moves are legit way more advanced. Thank goodness for the modifier because these new moves will take me a week or two to learn and eventually master. I'm excited about this new challenge and I'm excited to see how much stronger I become through this phase.

Phase 3 - Week 1

Phase 3 also means it's a whole new month - MAY - aka my birthday month! Yessss! I'm usually not a big birthday person, but this year we're going to the Twin Cities to check out some new bars/restaurants with a group of friends and family. My husband planned it out, which makes it even more fun. The weather forecast says it is suppose to rain, but I have my fingers crossed that it holds off while we are out and about. If not, we can always figure out a plan B.
