80 Day Obsession - Week 4
Week 4 of 80 Day Obsession is done, which also means that Phase 1 is DONE! WAHOO! Those 26 days flew by, I honestly can't believe I started Phase 2 today. When Autumn says this program is not for beginners, she isn't joking. I don't consider myself to be "advanced" per say, but I've been working out for a couple years now and this program still challenged me in ways I never thought possible. It's almost a mental game that you play with yourself. I knew I was capable of doing all of these moves, even if I needed to modify at first, but the hardest part was getting my mind in the right place. The mind is a powerful thing. One phrase we heard multiple times during SKILLS (hands on police training) was "Your mind controls your body, your body does not control your mind" - I definitely had to tell myself this a few hundred times throughout the first phase. Some days I was on the struggle bus, big time. Like Saturday, my last day of Cardio Flow. I kept reminding myself of the love/hate relationship I have with that workout and it definitely showed when it came time to press play. I had to hit pause a few times to pull myself together and give myself a pep talk. One thing was for sure though, I was not about to give up. I reminded myself that I had completed this workout 3 times prior, so I knew I was capable of doing it... without dying. It probably didn't help that I did a 1.5 mile warm up on the treadmill before attempting Cardio Flow, which is basically cardio on top of cardio on top of cardio. Yikes. My legs felt like jello when I was finished, but I did it. I finished the workout. I did every single move. I was not about to cheat myself on the last day of Phase 1.
Workouts (2 sets of 15 reps - repeat)
Day 21: Total Body Cardio
Day 22: Booty
Day 23: Cardio Core
Day 24: Arms, Abs, & Ass
Day 25: Legs
Day 26: Cardio Flow
Sunday: Active Recovery
1 Year Anniversary
Happy 1st {Beachbody} Anniversary to me! March marked 1 year since I began doing these at-home workouts for a minimum of 30 minutes a day. I noticed one of the firefighter wives posting about working out at home and I admit, I was skeptical. I'm one of those people that tends to be skeptical about everything, one of those "When I see it, I'll believe it" people. I joined one of her Accountability groups and started doing the workouts. I tried 21 Day Fix and could barely finish the warm up. Yeah, you read that right.. I could barely finish the warm up!! I dabbled in 21 Day Fix and then tried 21 Day Fix Extreme for awhile. I never posted in the Accountability group (my loss!) and I wasn't all that convinced that this program worked. I'm also one of those people that has tried every other program out there like Thrive, Weight Watchers, etc. Side note: Weight Watchers taught me all about portion control and which foods were better for me over others, which helped me lose 25+ pounds. I fell off the bandwagon a few times and would maybe workout 2-3 times per week. I stayed in the Accountability group and started drinking Shakeology, which is a super foods shake that goes along with the Beachbody program (Vegan Chocolate is my jam!). As time went on, I started setting mini goals for myself like 'workout every day for 1 week' or 'take a selfie after each workout and post in the group'. Eventually, I started posting in the Accountability group more and more. Now, I don't know what I'd do without the group! There's something about a group full of women who are on a mission to be the best that they can be that's just amazing. There's zero judgment. Zero negativity. I have only personally met 1-2 of the women in the Accountability group, but the support is incredible. I went a week or so without the group at one time during the beginning of my journey and I found that I skipped workouts constantly because there was no accountability (hence "Accountability" group, haha... those people at Beachbody sure are clever). Fast forward and I just completed 27 days in a row of workouts. 27 DAYS! That is incredible!
